Underfloor heating: Electric.

In a standard home, approximately 30% of the living space is taken up by radiators. Underfloor heating systems give you back this valuable space and the flexibility to live completely in your own space. Underfloor heating offers a near-perfect heating system giving maximum comfort and maximum control as well typical savings over 25% on your heating bills. There are two main types of underfloor heating systems. These are water based and electric based systems. An electric underfloor heating solution is more popular in areas where there is no mains gas supply and is usually cheaper to install that wet systems. Electric underfloor heating does not require so much depth in the floor. Therefore it is easier to install in existing properties.

The benefits of an electric based underfloor heating system are varied and include the following:

  • · Electric based underfloor heating is an ideal option for existing properties as well as extensions or new build projects.
  • · It is a flexible system that can be used in a single domestic room (zone) through to large commercial projects.
  • · Cost effective and easy to install and operate (although an electrician would be needed to complete the work).
  • · Perfectly safe to use in wet areas.
  • · Maintains a constant floor temperature.
  • · The mats mean that you can be flexible with the type of floor covering that you choose.
  • · Each room can be controlled individually.
  • · The heating system can be laid on top of an existing floor.
  • · You can typically set a room thermostat 2-3 degrees lower than with a conventional heating system thus reducing the impact on the environment and saving you on your heating bills.

If you had any concerns about underfloor heating I hope this somewhat alleviate any you may have had.
